Who are we?

The Hamlet is a continuation of Hope School & College‘s ‘Outstanding’ Legacy provision. We offer term-time day-provision for those young people aged 19-25 with additional needs who, at the time of admission, are independently competent, working at RQF Entry Level 1 or above and aim to progress to full-time unsupported employment or voluntary work.

Our goal is to build and grow The Hamlet at the heart of our local area, providing an opportunity for young adults to gain experience and skills equipping them for life as well as serving the local community.

Based at the stunning Three Sisters Recreation Area in Ashton-In-Makerfield, Wigan, we provide a range of valuable services to the local community. These include:

Lakeside Printing

Lakeside Printing is The Hamlet’s in-house print shop. A Karten Network Centre, Lakeside is fully-furnished with state of the art equipment and software for designing and producing high-quality print merchandise. Presently our focus is on made-to-order canvases, mugs and other gifts, with a view to expanding our range of products to cater for corporate clients in the near future.

Our Trainees are fully engaged in every aspect of work at Lakeside, from customer service (in person, over the phone and via e-mail) to the design process; manufacturing to quality control. Moving forward the intention is for trainees to take a greater role in advertising the business through social media. As their skillsets grow so too does their confidence.

Nest Café

Serving the local community (particularly the regular walkers and joggers on the Three Sisters site), The Nest Café offers hot and cold drinks in an intimate and welcoming setting (and at very reasonable prices too!) As we journey forward, The Nest will soon begin to offer hot food and snacks to our customers, making visiting us an even more appetising proposition.

Through working at The Nest our trainees learn how to work front-of-house in a busy environment, how to communicate with customers, catering skills (including food hygiene) and cash handling. Our present crop of trainees have proven they are up to the task, showing greater competency as each sitting goes by.

Conference Suite

We have a state of the art conference suite available to local businesses across Wigan and the North West. Our idyllic location that has ample parking and can be easily accessed from the M6 motorway, is the perfect place for your meeting surrounded by stunning scenery. Find out more or book today.
